I went to City Hall on Tuesday- to learn about how they defined ‘livable communities’ and how people actively participate in their government/policies that are affecting them everyday. … There were two people in the audience that were not speakers. 0.0

Although my head is still floating in the clouds trying to find a thesis, I wonder if this experience could be improved. How can active citizen-ry become more apart of our daily lives. I think getting a person to think beyond their daily activities and schedule- to get them to think long term, or even about other people is a huge task at hand.

Somewhat related… on Friday in my Social Issues in Design- Aaron brought up a good point that only people who have enough money have the ability to care or do something beyond themselves. Me, being an optimist, I would like to think otherwise… I think as consumers, we have a huge power to vote with our purchases. In a perfect world, I think if information about the safety of our products was tied to our products, or the impact of us ‘using that plastic bag’ every day was tied to our daily actions then people would value/think more about their decisions and outcomes.

Buh. I know I live by a design school is all about tangible, three-five year solutions- and I have to narrow down whatever this cloud of a thesis is in my head…. Deadline. Sunday. LIFE OR DEATH.
